Welcome to Devonport Uniting Church
Our vision, as Christ’s people in Devonport, is for our community of faith to provide hope and support, along with a place for reflection, friendship and activity, using all our resources and based on acceptance and reconciliation.
About Us
We welcome all people, regardless of sexual orientation, colour of skin, culture, ability.
We are:
- a congregation that meets at 10 a.m. on Sundays at 12 Forbes Street, Devonport, Tasmania. Worship is lead by Ministry Teams, retired ministers or visiting lay preachers. Zoom is usually available for those who cannot attend.
- diverse in nature and understanding of being a community of faith.
- a part of the Cradle Coast Uniting Church Cluster, Tasmania, that includes Devonport, Penguin, Burnie (Stowport) and Wynyard.
- able to meet as a combined cluster of worshipping communities at various venues on the fifth Sunday of the month.
- able to engage our congregation in several social groups, Bible Studies, and training workshops.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, Punnilerpanner Country, on which our Worship Centre is located.
Worship, Ministry and Mission
Our worship uses modern and old hymns / songs and incorporates a variety of worship styles.
Our ministry and mission includes pastoral support for members by visiting either by Elders or other members of the congregation.
Support for the local community:
1. Food Box and Book Box. Members of the congregation provide long life food which is placed in a box beside the Community Bench outside the Worship Centre. Members of the community are welcome to take what they need without any contact by the congregation. The same applies to the Book Box.
2. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren through the provision of groceries.
3. Liasing with, and seeking advice from, the 6 Rivers Aboriginal Corporation, Tiagarra Centre in Devonport.
4. We raise funds for Tasmanian, Australian and Overseas missions associated with the Uniting Church.
5. Friday Cafe - 10.30am on the second Friday of the month.
